Old Captiva House wins Two Awards at CROW’s Taste of the Islands

Posted on

We’re honored to share with you the great news! Our very own Old Captiva House was recognized in this year’s CROW’s Taste of the Islands contest, receiving first place in Taste of the Taste and Best Seafood Dish categories.

Even though the venue was different from years prior, the 39th annual Taste of the Islands was a success. This year featured a record high 31 top restaurants from Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Each restaurant competing had a featured weekend, where voters could come taste their participating dishes in a condensed and safe environment.

Our entered dish, the Cioppino (Fisherman’s Stew), received high praise from voters, snagging wins in two categories. Cioppino is a classic dish at the Old Captiva House, instantly bringing the coastal island vibe to you and your tastebuds. Featuring an assortment of seafood delicacies such as clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, calamari and Gulf grouper – our chefs then add scratch made roasted tomato seafood broth with a saffron risotto cake to compliment.

So next time you visit, come share the taste of sweet victory and give our award winning Cioppino a try!

Roll In the Holiday with ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa’s Tree Lighting Celebration

When you think of the holidays, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Is it spending time with loved ones around a warm fire? Giving gifts of joy and happy smiles? Maybe even listening to holiday music while setting up decorations?

All of those are excellent choices. For us, we think of our Tree Lighting Celebration. Every year, the legendary Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa on Captiva Island welcomes you and your loved ones to enjoy our little tradition of welcoming in the holiday season. It’s an event we treasure, as many of us have attended since the very first ceremony. We’ve seen our event grow from small get together to a large gathering, but maintaining the same reason throughout – to bring a little joy and happiness into the season.

This year will look a little different. As much as we want to see everyone enjoy this tradition as much as we do, we understand that the health and safety of everyone comes first. That’s why this year, our Tree Lighting Celebration is limited to resort guests or reserved-in-advance restaurant guests. We feel that this is the safest way to keep our tradition alive while taking in the health consideration of others during these times.

We welcome you to make your resort reservations here, or call 800.223.5865 and for everyone to have a safe and joyful holiday season!

Staying SanCap Safe at Old Captiva House

The safety of others is our most important goal right now, and here at Old Captiva House we want you to know we’re doing everything we can to ensure your safety.

We want to stay connected with you and transparent with our approach to a healthy environment at this time. That’s why we’re staying SanCap Safe. Were committed to using industry-approved sanitation, hygiene and infection control practices to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors, residents and staff.

What exactly goes into being SanCap Safe? Here’s the rundown:

1.) Wash Hands Often
Washing your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds is essential. We’re making sure our staff is washing their hands consistently. We’re asking staff and guests to use hand sanitizer when possible as well.

2.) Avoid Close Contact with Others
Our employees are practicing safe social distancing when needed. Were staying six feet apart from others, both indoors and outdoors, and we’re asking guests to practice this measure as well. Keeping a safe distance is especially important for those who are at a higher risk of becoming very sick.

3.) Mask Up
Were requiring our employees to wear a mask both inside and outside wherever and whenever possible. Masks should cover both mouth and nose always. We encourage our guests to wear masks as well, only removing them to enjoy food and drink.

Practicing the SanCap Safe measures, we believe our staff can provide a safe environment for guests to enjoy some of their favorite drinks, dishes and treats. Click here for more information on all the ways we’re staying safe.
